About Scriptorum

Scriptorum is a platform for running and participating in structured writing events.

It was built to solve a practical problem. Writing events—especially in small communities—are often held together with spreadsheets, comment threads, and manual tracking. Submissions scatter. Deadlines blur. Participation becomes difficult to follow, let alone measure.

Scriptorum provides structure:

Events run within defined timeframes.

Prompts can be pre-loaded and released on a schedule.

Submissions are tracked and visible.

Optional event objectives guide participation.

It is designed for two groups.

For authors:

  • Participate in events without losing track of deadlines or prompts
  • Submit work through a consistent, centralized system
  • See activity, progress, and results in one place

For organizers:

  • Run events without relying on spreadsheets or manual tracking
  • Manage prompts, timelines, and submissions from a single interface
  • Monitor participation and engagement as it happens

Scriptorum integrates with external platforms. Substack is currently supported through automated scraping of posts and engagement, allowing events to track submissions and performance without requiring authors to leave their publishing platform. Additional integrations are planned.

The long-term direction is broader. The same structure that supports writing events can extend to small publications—giving micropubs and journals a way to accept and organize submissions without relying on email or third-party tools.

Scriptorum is currently in active development. The focus is on building a stable foundation first, then expanding.

Authors are welcome to participate in active events. Event creation is currently limited to a small group of organizers during the beta period. Broader access will open as the system matures.
